The first and most essential part of Martial Arts, Especially aikido, is the cultivation of a calm state of mind. Without this aspect incorporated into your training you will merely be doing physical activity. Connecting the Body-Mind through meditation is the true path of Aikido. If you cannot go into the silence of the mind during sitting Meditation, how can you expect to be able to perform the right technique at just the right time to protect yourself or others?
